IVIA, universities to deepen cooperation

On March 4, 2008, Prof. Dirk Michael Boehe, coordinator for the Master’s Program in Businesss Administration at the University of Fortaleza and Prof. Hans-Peter Benedikt, vice-president of the University of Applied Science in Eberswalde (Germany) visited IVIA.

The University of Applied Science in Eberswalde (Germany) is the greenest University in Brandenburg (Germany). This institution has a very distinctive profile dedicated to sustainable economic activity. The cooperation between the disciplines oriented towards rural areas and regional and international partners in research and applications is unique nationally. One of their representative is Prof. Hans-Peter Benedikt. His specialization is Human Resource and Entrepreneurship. He is also responsible for arrangements of internships.

Due to the cooperation between IVIA and these universities, Nicole Loter will be an intern at IVIA for 3 months.

23rd. Annual ACM Symposium on Applied Computing

On March 16, 2008, one of the most important symposiums in Applied Computing, the 23rd. Annual ACM Symposium on Applied Computing, will be coming to Fortaleza. This symposium will be hosted by the University of Fortaleza (Unifor) and Federal University of Ceará (UFC) and sponsored by IVIA, CNPq and FUNCAP.

These event will be held at the Vila Galé Hotel in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. Several topics about software engineering, web technologies, mobility, database and other excellent subjects will be discussed.

All the IVIA team will be cheering for the success of this event. In addition to the participation of highly respected international researchers, some local researchers, will represent the high value of the intellectual capital of the Ceará state. Those are Prof. Ronaldo Menezes (Florida Institute of Technology) and the researchers from UNIFOR (Ângelo Brayner, Nabor Mendonça and Andréia Rodrigues) and from UFC (Rossana Andrade and Javam Machado).

SUN executives to visit IVIA

On February 13, 2008, Reggie Hutcherson, manager of the Sun Technology Evangelism group and Simon Ritter, Sun Technology Evangelist, together with Paulo Silveira, Caelum’s consultant ,visited IVIA, its Architects and Project Managers for Java and .NET platforms.

Reggie’s group is responsible for providing the long-term strategic vision of Sun's technologies to developers, executives, press and key customers worldwide. Simon specializes in looking at emerging technologies including grid computing, RFID, wireless sensor networks, robotics and wearable computing.



This visit was part of the "Café com Tapioca de Côco" event, promoted by CEJUG - Ceará Java Users Group and sponsored by IVIA. Over 500 Developers and Software Engineers attended the evening presentations at the FA7 - Faculdade 7 de Setembro facilities, who has also been a sponsor for the same event. IVIA achieved CMMI


Congratulations to the IVIA Team.

Last December, IVIA achieved Maturity Level 2 of the Software Engineering Institute’s Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI). Such recognition enhances our competitive position as customers increasingly look to process maturity measures to determine the best suppliers. SEBRAE invites IVIA to discuss global entrepreneurship

SEBRAE, the Brazilian Small Business Agency, gathered hundreds of employees for a week-long, national event. IVIA was invited to present its business case in global entrepreneurship.

Alexandre Menezes, IVIA’s director, COPPEAD’s Prof. Angela da Rocha, Plinio Viana from EUROCENTRO and Raissa Rossiter, Director of the Market Access Unit of SEBRAE, focused the discussion on pratical matters, international software market and lessons learned.

About 60 people attended the panel discussion and had also the opportunity to give their own valuable input.

UNIMED - New web portal using IVIA Content v2.3 launched

Unimed Fortaleza launched its new web portal, early this month. Unimed is one of the largest health insurance providers in Brazil, being responsible for more than 14 million patients and 32% of market share.

The new portal makes use of IVIA Content v2.3 multi-languages – one instance publishing feature. Although developed on the Microsoft platform, this content management solution allows for publishing of sites on several languages, such as JSP, PHP, ASP and ASPX(.NET). Unimed Fortaleza´s corporate Intranet, which also uses IVIA Content v2.3, was developed in ASP and is seamlessly integrated with all Java applications available on the portal.

IVIA also provides staff augmentation and on-demand services to UNIMED Fortaleza.

IVIA and Liveware to offer oficial CMMI - SEI course

IVIA employees, customers and partners, attended the Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI SM) “Introduction to CMMI® Version 1.2” training course, from October 30th to November 1st. This three-day course introduces systems and software engineering managers and practitioners, appraisal team members, and engineering process group (e.g., SEPG, EPG) members to CMMI® fundamental concepts.

Mr. Edgy Paiva, IVIA´s Software Director, used the opportunity to thank all attendees and to emphasize IVIA´s commitment to sharing knowledge with its customers and society at large. Professor Viviana L. Rubinstein, apparently was impressed with the level of knowledge, demonstrated by the attendees.
